BATON ROUGE - A young boy was hit and killed by a semi-truck Monday night while riding his bike off Cottondale Drive. 

The Baton Rouge Police Department said that the 7-year-old was hit around 8 p.m. on Lindale Avenue near Cottondale, and officers are looking for the driver, who left the scene. 

The coroner's office later identified the boy as Suleiman Hamideh. 

Initial reports indicated that the dead boy was a teenager, but BRPD said Tuesday that the boy was born in 2018.
