ST. GABRIEL - A lieutenant colonel at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center was arrested Thursday for simple battery.

Lt. Colonel Tyronika Wiggins was issued a misdemeanor summons related to an incident that happened inside the prison.

Sheriff Brett Stassi said Wiggins allegedly grabbed the arm of a coworker, which led to the charge. 

WBRZ has reached out to the Department of Corrections concerning Wiggins employment status. We have not heard back.
