BATON ROUGE - The owner of a pickup truck is caught in the middle of a fight after her truck was flooded at a mechanic shop in August. 

"I feel like [the business is ] financially responsible to replace the truck," said Mandi McKay.

The gold, Mazda truck flooded along with about 30 others at the Elite Car Care Center. Water reached the dashboard and the truck is totaled.

McKay said she brought her son's truck to Elite Car Care Center in July after it stopped running. The mechanic was referred to her by a friend. The truck was towed to the shop and repairs were performed with a bill totaling $1,477.80.  The truck broke down again, so the truck was towed back to the shop before the flood.

"My son didn't get but three miles down the road...and it died," she said.

The truck was at Elite Car Care when rain turned to flooding.  A technician there, Troy Boutte, told WBRZ Monday the truck's transmission went out.  McKay wants her money back but Boutte said that is not an option.  Boutte also said his insurance won't cover the flood damage done to McKay's truck, calling it an "act of God."

McKay believes the car care business is responsible for the truck since it was on the business' property.  

FEMA said McKay has the option of applying for federal assistance.  It also said, anyone with a flooded vehicle should register for disaster money.  People can apply for assistance at www.disasterassistance.gov.
