Clouds will increase across the region today as Gulf moisture returns, but most areas should stay dry through tonight. Scattered showers are expected Saturday into Sunday, including Halloween evening.

Today and tonight:  Expect a gradual increase in clouds today as moisture streams inland from the Gulf. Most of the area should remain dry, with highs in the lower to mid 80s and overnight temperatures settling into the 60s.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Forecast: Scattered showers could affect Halloween plans Saturday evening, so keep in mind that some neighborhoods may see rain during trick-or-treat hours. The showers should be hit or miss, meaning some areas could stay dry while others experience passing rain.

If you’re heading out for Halloween, have a backup plan in case a shower moves through. The exact timing and placement of the rain will determine which neighborhoods see the greatest impact.

Up Next: Attention then turns to Tuesday night into Wednesday, when a stronger cold front is expected to move through south Louisiana. A line of storms could develop along the front, and although instability appears somewhat limited, a few severe storms will be possible. The timing and severity potential will become clearer over the weekend.

Temperatures will remain above average ahead of the front Tuesday, then turn cooler behind it Wednesday and Thursday. The air mass is not expected to be unusually cold, but temperatures should settle closer to seasonal levels.

Tropics: The National Hurricane Center does not expect tropical cyclone formation in the Atlantic basin over the next several days. Hurricane Season ends in one month!
