PORT ALLEN - Firefighters responded to a house fire at Baker Police Chief Carl Dunn's childhood home Thursday night on North 13th Street in Port Allen.

The fire happened at the 800 block of North 13th Street; both West Baton Rouge Fire officials and the Port Allen Police Department were on scene. Officials said the house was unoccupied as a result of the fire and no one was injured.

Baker Police Chief Carl Dunn said the home was his childhood home and shared a video of neighbors trying to help put out the fire.

"This man [Hampton Craig], upon seeing the house (next door) ablaze, made sure my brother was safe, then grabbed his hose pipe and stood there spraying water without stopping from 8:30 p.m. till 11:20 p.m.", Dunn posted on Facebook.

Investigators say they believe the fire was accidentally caused.
