LIVINGSTON — A 36-year-old Springfield man has been convicted of battery of a dating partner – third offense, local authorities said Friday.

Anthony Lamont George was found guilty as charged by a Livingston Parish jury on Sept. 1, according to 21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux.

The case stems from a December 2025 emergency call involving a domestic disturbance. Livingston Parish Sheriff's deputies made contact with the 35-year-old victim who had obvious injuries to her eye and LPSO's investigation identified George as a suspect.

This week, George stood trial in Livingston Parish, and after just 17 minutes of deliberations, the jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict. George has two prior convictions for domestic violence and was also arrested multiple times last year.

Last year, George was arrested for unauthorized entry and remaining in places after being forbidden after an incident where he punched a house. As he was being booked into jail, he punched another arrestee.

Perrilloux praised the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office Domestic Violence Unit's follow-up investigation and persistent efforts to bring George into custody. Perrilloux also praised the work of Assistant District Attorney Brett Sommer, who prosecuted the case for the State.

Sommer stated he intends to file a habitual offender bill to enhance the possible penalty range George is facing.

"Considering the defendant's lengthy criminal history as well as the fact that each of George's three domestic convictions involved a different victim, he is exactly the type of defendant that the Habitual Offender law is intended to address," Sommer said.
