LSU Soccer blows out Northwestern State in home opener
BATON ROUGE - From the opening kickoff, the No. 16 LSU Tigers looked like the better team on the pitch. Despite not scoring in the first half, the Tigers dominated possession and also pelted a whopping 24 shots to Northwestern State's 3. The Tigers won the game 5-0.
Last year's leading goal scorer, Ava Galligan, was the first Tiger to hit the scoresheet in the 2026 regular season. LSU had been threatening the Demons with corner kicks throughout the second half, and one finally went through. The corner came off the left foot of Tigers sophomore forward Sariyah Bailey, and off the head of junior defender Amy Smith before it found the boot of Galligan.
The Tigers ripped off four more goals before the end of the half to come to a resounding win in their first home game of the 2026 regular season.
