PATTERSON — A bus driver was arrested for simple battery involving a child, Patterson Police confirmed to WBRZ.

Officials said that the incident happened on Oct. 23, with the department receiving a complaint from a mother who claimed that a school bus driver, Edward Thomas, "put his hands on her child."

Police say that the St. Mary Parish School Board provided video and audio of the incident; after reviewing the video, Thomas was booked for simple battery.

The case has been handed over to the district attorney's office, the police department said.
