INGLEWOOD, Calif - If the Saints' preseason week one loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars was an encouraging loss, their week two 34-0 loss to the Los Angeles Rams was a discouraging one.

There was an audible buzz around New Orleans' backup quarterback situation after the Jaguars loss. Zach Wilson had performed well, and the incumbent QB2 Spencer Rattler hadn't. When Wilson came out to start the game in Inglewood, it seemed that the former second overall pick had pulled ahead in the race to be Tyler Shough's backup.

But Wilson's week one flashes didn't carry over into California. He threw an interception, something he did not do against Jacksonville, and only completed half of his passes.

His competition didn't fare much better.

Rattler threw a 100-yard pick-six, which made the score 27-0 in favor of the Rams, but he did get more opportunities to throw the ball than Wilson did.

It wasn't just the quarterbacks; the Saints just didn't have a good day. New Orleans had 13 first downs and 12 penalties. The Saints also turned the ball over three times.
