Texas man arrested for allegedly collecting retirement benefits on behalf of deceased mother
BATON ROUGE - A Texas man was arrested for allegedly collecting Louisiana retirement funds on behalf of his mother for nearly two years after she died.
The Louisiana attorney general's office said 48-year-old Mansa Dwayne Dyer of Houston did not tell the Louisiana State Employees Retirement System that his mother died. He's accused of collecting her retirement benefits for 23 months, a total of $43,000, after she passed away.

Dyer was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Houston on July 23 and extradited to East Baton Rouge Parish on July 30. He was booked for government benefits fraud and theft.
