Tropical Storm Cristobal has formed in the central subtropical Atlantic, well west-southwest of the Azores islands. With maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and clusters of showers and thunderstorms getting better organized, the National Hurricane Center has determined that a tropical storm has developed.  

Cristobal is located pretty far north for a tropical system. It is moving east at about 25 mph. This tropical storm will be very short-lived, given the cooler waters of the central to northern Atlantic. The remnants of this system will pass close to the Azores Islands, but minimal impacts are expected.

This system poses no concerns for the central Gulf Coast. As hurricane season approaches its peak, it's always a good idea to review hurricane season plans and monitor forecasts.
