Former Capital Area football coach Nolan Gill dies after battle with Alzheimer's

BATON ROUGE — Former Denham Springs High School and Glen Oaks High School football coach Nolan Gill has died after a battle with Alzheimer's, Denham's football program announced.
Gill spent more than three decades as a coach at multiple Capital Area high schools following a college career at Southeastern Louisiana University.
According to a 2004 article from the Livingston Parish News, Gill began his coaching in the 1970s as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Glen Oaks High. He would spend nearly a decade as an assistant coach, followed by a brief stint at Tara High School, before returning to Glen Oaks, where he would coach the Panthers from 1987 to 1999.
Gill coached several players who would go on to have prosperous careers, including LSU quarterback Marcus Randall.
Glen Oaks' football fieldhouse has since been named after Gill.
In 2000, he began a four-year tenure as the head coach of Denham Springs High's football program.
"The impact he had on his players and the many lives he touched throughout his 30-plus-year career will not be forgotten," Denham Springs High's football program wrote on Facebook.
