Southern Jags defeat the LCU Wildcats 50-31

BATON ROUGE - A big key for the Southern Jaguars was to start fast in the matchup against LCU and the Jags did just that. 

They got on the board early with running back Trey Holly rushing for a two-yard touchdown coming off of a near-perfect opening drive. 

The offense showed no signs of slowing down in the first quarter, tacking on another 69-yard touchdown for Holly and an 18-yard touchdown to wide receiver Daejawn Smith, putting the Jaguars up 21-7. 

Quarterback Christian Johnson got in on the action early in the second quarter, rushing for a 15-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 27-7. 

The Wildcats scored a field goal. The Jaguars headed into halftime with a 30-10 lead. 

Both teams came out of the half hot and scored a touchdown each through the air to bring the score to 37-17. 

It looked like the Wildcats were making a comeback case after a 4th quarter score , but a punishing Trey Holly run led to another touchdown from Christian Johnson to Jayden Cook in the endzone, upping the score to 44-24. 

The Jags defeated the Wildcats 50-31.
