After years of trying, couple finds their forever family through adoption
ST. AMANT- After five years of trying to have children, Rev. Merton Wilcox, an assistant pastor, and his wife received a call about two years ago that would change their lives.
The St. Amant-area couple was asked to foster a little girl, and today, October 19, they learned they had been approved to adopt her.
The couple celebrated the milestone at an adoption ceremony at the Gonzales courthouse, marking the beginning of a new chapter as a forever family.
The girl's grandmother said adoption is a beautiful reminder that love makes a family.
“Adopt. And love that child like it’s your own. Don’t make any difference if you already have children or not; they’re all the same because a child needs love and tender care" said grandmother Cecelia Henderson.
