Albertsons recalls salad items over possible Salmonella contamination linked to jalapenos

BATON ROUGE — Albertsons Companies has voluntarily recalled two salad items due to possible Salmonella contamination linked to jalapeños supplied by Taylor Farms.
The recall follows a supplier-initiated recall by Taylor Farms, whose distributor Direct Roots supplied jalapeños connected to an ongoing FDA recall involving Coast Citrus Distributors.
According to Albertsons, the Roasted Corn Maque Choux Salad and Ready Meals Roasted Corn Maque Choux Salad were sold at Albertsons, Randalls and Tom Thumb stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas between Aug. 3 and Aug. 10.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems, while healthy people infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
Anyone who purchased these products should not consume them and should either dispose of them or return them to their local store for a full refund.
