BATON ROUGE - Community leaders in more than a dozen states hosted prayer marches Sunday, as they say, questions still remain about the death of Mississippi teen Nolan Wells.

The march is a nationwide movement called "One March, Fifty States." Organizers tell WBRZ they have one question they want to get answered: "What happened to Nolan Wells?"

Wells disappeared on the Fourth of July after going out on a trip with some friends to the Mississippi coast. His body was found two days later.

In September, a Mississippi grand jury ruled that no criminal charges would be brought in his death based on the evidence that was collected.

"They said it was ruled to be a drowning, but yet there was no water found in his lungs. Also, we saw that there were abrasions and bruises all over his body, so we want to figure out: How did he get those bruises? Why wasn't there any water in his lungs? And how were they able to decide that it was a drowning?" said Louisiana lead for the Nolan Wells March, Dr. Manasha Beckwith.

Beckwith says these walks allow people who don't live in Mississippi to still stand and pray with the Wells family in their search for answers.

"I'm praying that all of us will be able to have compassion for one another and compassion for this family, and be able to understand that this can happen to our child," Dr. Beckwith said. "We are not far from the situation. It could be our child riding a bike down the street, it could be our child hanging out with their friends, and something happens, and we need answers."

Before the march started, people were making signs and had the opportunity to write a letter to the Wells family.

"We are looking for justice, accountability, and transparency. So, for the community to come out and to stand in solidarity with Nolan Wells' parents just shows that we have a heart for what is going on," said community member and prayer warrior Kimberly Spruill.
