Central Police assistant chief dies after brief battle with illness; department announces funeral details

CENTRAL — Central Police Department Assistant Chief Clifton Ivey has died, the department said Thursday. 

According to the department, he died after a "brief illness." 

Ivey started at the department in October 2020. 

"He was paramount in growing the Department, upgrading equipment, and implementing policies and procedures that have made the Department what it is today. Cliff believed in the important role of the Central Police Department and was committed to seeing it thrive," Central Police said in a statement on social media.

His funeral will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home along Government Street in Baton Rouge on Monday. A visitation will be held at noon, with a service starting at 2 p.m. Ivey will be buried at Greenoaks Memorial Park along Florida Boulevard at 3:45 p.m.
