JACKSON — Deputies with the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office are currently looking for a motorcyclist who abandoned their vehicle during a pursuit in the area of La. 19 and La. 956 on Monday morning. 

According to the sheriff's office, around 7:07 a.m., deputies observed the motorcyclist speeding before attempting to make a traffic stop. Deputies said the operator of the vehicle abandoned the motorcycle and fled on foot, with deputies currently searching in the area of La. 19 and La. 956 near Highway 19. 

The operator was allegedly wearing a heavy jacket, gloves and helmet at the time of the chase.

One lane of Highway 19 is currently blocked for emergency vehicles.
