BATON ROUGE — Entergy is launching a bill credit program to help residential customers manage higher household costs.

The company said Tuesday that eligible customers can apply beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday through their local United Way for a one-time $100 credit on their utility bill. Entergy said the program has $2 million in shareholder funding.

The program is for customers living below the federal poverty level and for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed households known as ALICE. The company described ALICE households as individuals and families who earn above the federal poverty level but below the actual cost of living in the parishes where they live. Entergy said many of those customers do not qualify for traditional assistance programs.

Entergy said it will notify potentially eligible customers by email and encourage them to apply. Customers can locate their parish's participating United Way and apply while funds are available.

The company said in-person help will be available according to each United Way's application website. It encouraged people who need computer access to visit local libraries.

Applicants will need a photo ID and one income document for each income earner 18 or older. Accepted options include the first page of 2025 tax returns, 2025 W2s, the most recent pay stubs and Social Security Administration 1099 or 1042S forms or benefit-determination letters.

Eligible customers in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana Parishes will be handled by Capital Area United Way. Those in Assumption Parish will need to see United Way of South Louisiana, and those in Tangipahoa Parish will consult with United Way of Southeast Louisiana.
