BATON ROUGE — As people show appreciation for their fathers this Father's Day, numerous people took to the green to tee off with their father figures.

On Sunday at BREC's Santa Maria Golf Course, Brandon Yan-Hamby and his son Remy began the day in a calm yet traditional way.

"It's been great, got up leisurely this morning. My daughter made me breakfast, and [we're] out here trying to play some golf before we play indoor soccer later," Brandon Yan-Hamby said.

The Yan-Hamby's play golf together every year on Father's Day, a tradition that brings them closer.

"Pretty much every year ... kind of a tradition, we just want to get out here and have fun and be together."

For other families, it's their first time out on the green together.

Matt Duris and his son played golf together for the first time on Sunday; however, golf isn't the only sport they enjoy.

"Any sports, anything with a ball," said Duris. "So we're always outside, whether it's basketball or football or teeball."

While golf isn't for everyone, it gives fathers and sons an opportunity to bond and create memories that can last a lifetime.
