LAFAYETTE — A fire broke out on M. L. Tigue Moore Field in Russo Park at the University of Louisiana Lafayette on Friday. 

According to the Lafayette Fire Department, the fire was caused by sparks from construction equipment igniting pine needles in the area. 

Officials said the fire quickly spread to the fence and old scoreboard.
