Man wanted for domestic aggravated assault in Denham Springs arrested after pursuit in Mississippi
DENHAM SPRINGS — A man accused of aggravated assault in Denham Springs was arrested over the weekend after leading a pursuit in Mississippi, authorities said.
Medhat Alhashimi was wanted for a strangulation incident that happened at the Parc Apartments in Denham Springs on Saturday, Aug. 29, Livingston Parish deputies said.
Later that day, deputies in Pike County, Mississippi, worked with the McComb Police Department to apprehend Alhashimi following a pursuit. The pursuit continued into the City of Osyka, where a Pike County Sheriff’s deputy deployed spike strips. The pursuit ultimately ended on Old Mill Road when Alhashimi got out of his car and fled on foot, Pike County deputies said.
Deputies eventually took him into custody without incident, they added.
Alhashimi was booked into the Pike County Jail as a fugitive from Livingston Parish. He was additionally booked for reckless driving, disorderly conduct, tampering with physical evidence, littering and fleeing police in a motor vehicle. He was booked on a $75,000 bond during the early hours of Aug. 30.
