MORGAN CITY — A man was arrested for allegedly killing his aunt after police found her body in her Morgan City home during a welfare check. 

WBRZ reported Monday that Whitney Joseph Billiot IV was arrested for the murder of 65-year-old Brenda F. Bernucho. On Tuesday, Morgan City Police confirmed that Bernucho was Billiot's aunt. 

Police found her body when they were called to do a welfare check on Sunday at Bernucho's home near Pine Street and Maple Street.

Billiot was arrested and booked into the Morgan City Police Department Jail on a first-degree murder charge.
