BATON ROUGE — From WBRZ journalists earning Suncoast Emmy nominations to trying pottery, tasting New York-style pizza and checking out upcoming events around Baton Rouge, this week’s Positively BR has plenty to explore.

Host Angelica Butine highlights the WBRZ teams nominated for regional Emmy awards, gets creative with Brittany Weiss at Bellyfire Studios and taste-tests Prince St. Pizza, a New York favorite that has made its way south.

Suncoast Emmy nominations

Three teams of WBRZ journalists have been nominated for the 2026 Suncoast Emmy Awards.

The nominated reports include The Southern University Human Jukebox in the Arts/Entertainment category, featuring Charles Jones and Brittany Weiss.

The story sees Brittany Weiss take a step inside the 325-piece ensemble that makes up Southern University's famed Human Jukebox.

In Politics/Government, Ice on the Bayou earned a nomination for Stephen Stock, Joel Bruce, Charles Jones, Joshua Lennix and David Hilbun.

The story investigates ICE's activity within Louisiana as it serves as the main hub for the nation's deportation operation.

WBRZ's report Stolen Guns was nominated in the Societal Concerns category, recognizing Stephen Stock, Joel Bruce and Joshua Lennix.

In a year-long probe of firearms data and other public records, WBRZ’s Investigative Unit has found that 1,642 different guns were stolen from private gun owners in the greater Baton Rouge area during the last two years.

The 50th Suncoast Emmy Awards are scheduled for Dec. 5 in Hollywood, Florida.

One Tank Trip: Getting creative at Bellyfire Studios

Angelica Butine and Brittany Weiss trade the newsroom for the pottery studio on this week’s One Tank Trip.

The two visit Bellyfire Studios to try their hands at pottery and see what it takes to turn a lump of clay into a finished piece.

Owner David Rollins says pottery has been a passion of his for years.

“I've been doing pottery for probably over 15 years, and it's close to my heart. It's one of the things that brings me the most happiness,” Rollins said.

Rollins said he hopes the studio gives people a chance to step away from their screens and create something with their hands.

“I think that today, we're so initiated by social media, and now AI, and streaming and just so much consumption that my goal with Bellyfire is to create a space that promotes creativity over consumption,” he said.

The studio offers classes for beginners, intermediate students and advanced potters, along with memberships and access to its working studio.

Prince St. Pizza brings a New York favorite south

A New York City pizza favorite has made its way to Baton Rouge, and Angelica is ready to see how it stacks up.

Prince St. Pizza opened its Louisiana location on Siegen Lane, bringing its signature slices to the Capital City. The original shop opened in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood in 2012 and is known for its thick, Sicilian-style square pizzas topped with pepperoni.

One of its best-known menu items is the Spicy Spring, featuring fra diavolo sauce, pepperoni, fresh mozzarella and Pecorino Romano. The menu also included traditional New York-style round pizzas.

The restaurant said it makes its sauces from scratch daily and uses a water-filtration process designed to mimic New York tap water.

The Baton Rouge opening also brought celebrity attention, with former UFC champion Jon “Bones” Jones scheduled to appear for the grand opening. The restaurant also offered free slices to the first 50 people in line.

Prince St. Pizza has made headlines with a football-related offer, too: free pizza for life for LSU football coach Lane Kiffin.

Angelica puts the new location to the taste test to find out what makes the New York pizza favorite stand out in Louisiana.

Table for 2: Parish Biscuit Company

Keep that appetite ready, because Angelica has more food to try.

This week’s Table for 2 heads to Parish Biscuit Company in Baton Rouge, where Angelica explores a menu that puts a Louisiana spin on familiar breakfast favorites.

From the restaurant’s parish-inspired offerings to its take on Southern staples, the visit serves up another look at the local food scene.

Upcoming events at the Manship Theatre

Angelica sits down with Kelly Swift of the Manship Theatre to talk about upcoming films, performances and family-friendly events.

The October lineup includes a screening of the Gregg Allman documentary on Oct. 11, with a live performance before the film, followed by The Corpse Bride on Oct. 16.

Swift also shares details about the theatre’s Mystery Kids Movie series, which features free screenings on the first Sunday of each month. Families can use clues posted online to try to figure out which movie will be shown.

The theatre is also preparing a $5 movie series featuring Steel Magnolias, The Color Purple and The Princess and the Frog, with additional programming to be announced.

Getting to know Sarah Gray Barr

And finally, Angelica sits down with Sarah Gray to get to know her on a more personal level.

But this interview comes with a twist: Sarah pulls out the Uno reverse card and turns the questions back on Angelica.

The switch-up gives viewers a chance to see another side of the people behind the newsroom and catch a few unexpected moments along the way.

From newsroom recognition and local adventures to food, film and familiar faces, Positively BR highlights the people, places and experiences that make the Capital Region special.
