BATON ROUGE — Raising Cane's is celebrating its 30th anniversary this week, and founder and CEO Todd Graves marked the occasion at the first Cane's location off LSU's campus on Highland Road on Tuesday.

There was a special cake made to mark the occasion at the "Mothership" location, which started as a small chicken restaurant near LSU in 1996. Now, the company has gone international, with more than 1,000 locations across 45 states and several countries. 

Baton Rouge, Graves said, still holds a special place in his heart.

"Thirty years go by, and so much has happened," Graves said. "But looking back, you know, it's just an amazing thing. I'm really proud of our organization and everybody that's involved with Raising Cane's to end up where we are here today. And I really feel like we're just getting warmed up. I can't wait for the next 30 years." 

To celebrate the historic milestone, Graves is opening a museum dedicated to the restaurant's history in what was once his old apartment near the Mothership location. 

The museum tells the history of the brand and includes a recreation of Graves' old living space, complete with props authentic to the late 1990s. 

The museum will be open from Aug. 25 through Sept. 24. The museum will be open from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as two LSU home game days—Sept. 5 and 12—from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
