BATON ROUGE - Last week, Metro Councilman Anthony Kenney Jr. announced a $2.38 million investment in the Monte Sano Bayou Drainage Project to reduce flood risk and improve drainage in Scotlandville, including the Park Vista neighborhood.

Jeffrey Gray has been a resident in the area for more than 30 years. He says this project is a necessity.

"It's very inconvenient because the last time we had a good hard rain, my wife had to park down the street and walk to the house," Gray said.

The project area extends between Scotland Avenue and Elm Grove Garden Avenue and will include a detention pond, new drainage piping, and cleaning and improvements to existing outfall ditches.

“This is a major infrastructure investment for the Scotlandville community,” Councilman Kenney said. “Residents have experienced street flooding and drainage concerns for years. This project will address those challenges and provide significant benefits for Park Vista and surrounding neighborhoods."

Construction is expected to begin in Q4 2026 and take approximately one year.
