BATON ROUGE - Southern Volleyball kept things close throughout the four sets that were played, but the Lady Jags ended up taking a 3-1 loss to SWAC foe Jackson State to drop to 6-13 on the season.
Set two was the lone set captured by the Jags. Zaria Nelson got the winning point on a nice service ace.
Sophomore outside hitter Mariah Mott led the team with 14 kills.
Southern's now 3-4 in SWAC play with a bit of a layover coming up on their schedule. The Lady Jags don't play again until Wednesday, Oct. 21, for a non-conference game against Dillard. After that, it'll be nothing but SWAC play the rest of the way in the regular season for the last nine games.
