19-year-old arrested for alleged murder attempt
BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police arrested Kendrick Brothers on Monday morning in connection to a shooting that occurred on Sept. 14.
The 19-year-old faces charges of attempted second degree murder and illegal use of weapons.
Police responded to reports of a shooting around 7:45 p.m. on Sept. 14 on La Annie Drive, off South Choctaw Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a victim with multiple gunshot wounds. That person was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, the victim met with an associate to smoke marijuana and that associate arrived with several other men with him. Brothers allegedly approached the victim about either purchasing or trading a handgun he had in his possession, suddenly fired several shots and then fled the area by foot.

The victim did not know who the shooter was because it was their first encounter, authorities note in the arrest warrant. Witnesses helped identify Brothers, as well as a photographic lineup where Brothers was positively identified.
