TICKFAW — A motorized bicyclist was killed in a Sunday night Tangipahoa Parish crash on US Highway 51 at Old Genessee Road. 

According to investigators, 52-year-old Robert L. Peterkin of Tickfaw and his motorized bicycle were lying in the roadway partially within the northbound lane when a 2019 Nissan Sentra traveling north on US Highway 51 struck Peterkin, who was wearing dark colored clothing at the time of the incident.

Peterkin, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained critical injuries as a result of the crash and died on scene. The driver of the Nissan was uninjured. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
