DENHAM SPRINGS — Officers arrested a Baton Rouge man after finding large quantities of drugs and guns in his car during a traffic stop, the Denham Springs Police Department said Friday.

According to DSPD, officers stopped Terrance Richardson, 33, for a minor traffic violation as he was driving near the intersection of Florida Avenue SW and 4-H Club Road around 4:20 a.m. on Tuesday. 

The officers noticed a strong smell as they walked up to the car, DSPD said, and subsequently searched Richardson's vehicle.

According to the police department, officers found several large bags of weed, Schedule II and IV controlled substances, guns and other drug paraphernalia. 

Richardson was arrested and charged with not having a license plate light, driving under suspension, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I substance, possession of Schedule II and IV drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm with drugs and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
