BATON ROUGE — Gov. Jeff Landry has appointed State Rep. Mark Wright as Commissioner of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development's Office of Multimodal Commerce.

Wright will oversee the office's efforts to strengthen Louisiana's integrated transportation network, including ports, waterways, rail, aviation, public transportation and commercial trucking.

"Mark brings a unique combination of legislative experience, transportation knowledge and strategic leadership to this role," said DOTD Secretary Glenn Ledet in a prepared statement. "His understanding of how our ports, waterways, railroads, airports and highways work together to move people and commerce will be a tremendous asset to DOTD and to the people of Louisiana, especially as our department advances its T4LA initiative."

"I look forward to working alongside Mark as we continue building a safer, stronger and more connected transportation system that improves quality of life and supports economic opportunity across Louisiana," Ledet said.

Wright has represented House District 77 since 2017 and most recently served as Chairman of the House Republican Delegation in his third term. He previously served as Chairman of the House Transportation, Highways and Public Works Committee.

His background includes experience in maritime transportation policy, infrastructure, international trade and economic development, as well as leadership roles in local government, the private sector and regional transportation organizations.

As commissioner, Wright will work with state, local, federal and private-sector partners to reinforce Louisiana's position as a national leader in commerce and logistics.
