BATON ROUGE — Football season is here, and this week on Positively BR, we’re diving headfirst into some of the traditions that make game days in Baton Rouge unlike anywhere else.

First up, we’re getting a taste of Tiger Stadium.

Angelica Butine finds out what food fans can expect to see on game days this season, and WBRZ’s Madison Smith joins her for a taste test. From game day favorites to new bites, they’re digging into what fans may be enjoying when they head to Tiger Stadium.

And because in Baton Rouge, game day starts long before kickoff, Angelica also talks all things tailgating.

She sits down with WBRZ’s Joe Collins for Tailgating on 2, talking about the traditions, food and atmosphere that make LSU Saturdays a full-day event.

But football isn’t the only thing we’re celebrating this week.

It’s National Wildlife Day, and Angelica is going wild with Global Wildlife.

She talks with the wildlife park about its Sunset Safaris, taking place every weekend throughout September. The experience gives visitors a chance to explore the park as the sun goes down and see a different side of the animals.

And while September may be here, summer isn’t over just yet.

Labor Day weekend marks Blue Bayou Water Park’s final weekend open for the season, so Angelica heads out for a One Tank Trip to end summer with a splash.

From hitting the slides to cooling off in the Louisiana heat, it’s one last chance to enjoy the water park before it closes for the season.

Blue Bayou Water Park in Baton Rouge offers families more than 20 rides and attractions spread across 18 acres.

Alaina Perry, social media manager at Blue Bayou, said the park is built around family time. "This is Blue Bayou water park; it's a place for families to come and just make memories and enjoy their time here and grow closer as a family while also having lots of fun in the water," Perry said.

The park has something for all ages, from high-speed thrills to slow, easy floats.

For younger visitors, the experience tends to stick with them. "I would tell everyone to come here. I'd like tell my friends, my cousins, all sorts of stuff," said Lorelei. 

She also said the park has broad appeal. "Because it's like a fun hangout place for adults and kids to hang out and have fun," Lorelei said.

For some kids, the park offers more than just a good time. "I'm usually scared of water slides, but I tested out the ones over here, and it made me conquer my fears," said Mia, age 10.

One of the park's bigger draws is Azuka, a slide that towers 60 feet above the park and offers one of Blue Bayou's biggest drops.

Meanwhile, while summer is winding down, the holiday season is already on the minds of dancers across Baton Rouge.

Angelica sits down with the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre to talk about Nutcracker auditions and what it takes to earn a spot in one of the Capital City’s most beloved holiday traditions.
