HAMMOND— Southeastern Louisiana University named Nyoki Mokeba as the 2026 Young Alumnus of the Year, the school announced on Friday.

Mokeba will receive official recognition during Homecoming week at the Southeastern Alumni Awards Evening on Oct. 16. Mokeba is a double graduate, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in marketing and a Master of Business Administration degree from Southeastern.

“We are proud to honor Nyoki Mokeba as our 2026 Young Alumnus of the Year,” Southeastern Interim Alumni Relations Director Amanda Hammonds said. “To be recognized with this distinction speaks to Nyoki’s remarkable achievements and his deep commitment to our university. He truly embodies the very best of what it means to be a Lion for Life.”

Currently, Mokeba serves as the corporate director of equipment sourcing for Performance Contractors in Baton Rouge. With over 12 years of experience in the construction industry, Mokeba has led equipment and cost management operations on some of the nation’s largest industrial construction projects, including billion-dollar projects for SpaceXAI, ExxonMobil and Sasol.

This year, the Associated Builders and Contractors named Mokeba as the National Young Professional of the Year, one of the construction industry’s premier recognitions for emerging leaders. He was also named Mentor of the Year by LSU’s Department of Construction Management and received the ABC Pelican Chapter Committee Member of the Year Award.

Beyond his professional accolades, Mokeba currently serves on the executive board of the American Cancer Society’s Fork Cancer initiative. He is also a member of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry Emerging Leaders Council and the ECC Future Leaders Program.

Mokeba is deeply committed to leadership and service and is committed to developing the next generation of construction professionals by mentoring construction management students and supporting workforce development initiatives.

The Southeastern Alumni Awards Evening will also include recognition of several Southeastern faculty, staff and alumni, including Alumnus of the Year for 2026 retired executive and former Senior Vice President at Chick-fil-A Robert “Rob” Dugas.
