SCOTT — A couple from Scott was arrested over the weekend after they allegedly left their child, who had ingested a THC gummy, to attend the LSU football game.

Mary Cormier and David Butts were arrested by Scott Police Department and face a cruelty to juvenile charge. Scott Police responded to a call on Sunday regarding a four-year-old child who had consumed a THC gummy.

Through their investigation, authorities learned that Cormier and Butts had known the child consumed the gummy and instead of seeking medical attention, left the child alone under another juvenile’s supervision so that the pair could attend the LSU game in Baton Rouge on Saturday.

Eight hours later, the four-year-old was found breathing, but unresponsive. The child has been transported to an area hospital and remains in the ICU, according to authorities.

The parents face one charge of second degree cruelty to juveniles, one count of child desertion and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
